Pitloon gets a new coat of paint

Announcement
29 Jun '26

This week, Pitloon has had a big update, and I'm really excited for you to try it out.

I don't normally make a song and dance about an update, but in this case it's the equivalent of starting fresh with the best spec of a particular car. Aka a great foundation on which to build.

So What's new?

The biggest visual change is the native tab bar. Which looks something like this:

iOS

Android

The best analogy I can give for why this change is great (aside from the fact they look cool) is as follows:

The old version was like having a single browser tab open, and every time you navigate, it overrides whatever you were just doing.

The new version is like having multiple browser tabs open. This means that you can navigate in the forum, jump over to the events tab, and your "place" in forum isn't lost.

The Forum Tab

I have pretty big ambitions with Pitloon, specifically around it being a useful tool for car people. For those who aren't old enough to remember the forums, they were a place where people:

  • - posted their car builds.
  • - asked for advice from those more experienced.
  • - shared detailed guides on how to complete some niche task, for an even more niche car!

It's also worth mentioning that an individuals reputation on the forums was based on their contributions. This will be no different.

Those features aren't quite ready yet, but they are in the works.

What else?

Links to Pitloon now open the app!

This might seem like a small thing, but has big implications for people who share things with others.

Events, builds, QR codes, can all make the Pitloon app open automatically. I might even muck around with NFC chips 👀

Momentum is strong

The rate at which Pitloon develops is purely based on how I'm doing personally.

I have a good group of people around me, who are encouraging me to keep pushing. This means more cool updates coming sooner than ever.
