ANTI THEFT There are lots of strategies and anti-theft devices around. Heard recently theives will hide a tracker if you take your car to events and show. Protecting your pride and joy can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. Did you know that LABORDE MOTORSPORT are able to provide vehicle immobiliser solutions restricting engine start until a sequence of buttons or inputs are received to the engine? Our expertise with reverse engineering Powertrain Modules and recent developments integrated into the CANBUS got us thinking. How does this work? For example, Engine Start won’t be authorised until the driver taps the left shift paddle twice, the right shift paddle twice, then presses start or turns the key. The same can be done with the cruise control for example. We can also enable a “PIN code” style password to authenticate start using the cruise control lever to select the number sequence. Why would you want to do this? Vehicle theft is becoming more common and one of the easiest ways to prevent it is to make it more difficult for people to steal the car, the keys might be one thing but if there’s a start up sequence then it’s going to need a lot more effort than just driving it away to prevent a total loss. Want to learn more? Send Joshua Laborde a message. You also can’t bypass this because it’s software coded into the ECU 😊
